Somaliland President Irro Visits Gobanimo Market Following Devastating Fire

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), visited Gobanimo Market today to personally assess the damage caused by the catastrophic fire that ravaged the commercial section of the market last night.

Accompanied by members of the Council of Ministers, senior officials from the national security forces, the Deputy Mayor of Hargeisa, the Governor of Maroodi-Jeex, and other key government representatives, President Irro conducted a comprehensive inspection of the affected area. His Excellency witnessed the extent of the destruction and reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting those impacted by this tragic incident.

In a statement, the President expressed deep concern for the traders who have suffered significant losses, offering his heartfelt condolences and extending the government’s full solidarity with all those affected. He highlighted the administration’s determination to expedite recovery efforts and ensure that vital assistance is provided to mitigate the hardships faced by the business community.

President Irro further called on the public to unite in support of the affected individuals and participate in coordinated relief efforts. He stressed the urgent need for a national strategy aimed at preventing similar disasters in the future, recognizing the severe socio-economic consequences that market fires can have on local communities.

In response to the crisis, President Irro announced the formation of a technical committee. This committee will be tasked with conducting a detailed assessment of the damages, developing recovery plans, and proposing long-term measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.
