JERUSALEM — His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today commenced a historic State Visit to the State of Israel at the invitation of His Excellency Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel.
Upon his arrival at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem, President Irro was accorded full state honors in accordance with the highest traditions of diplomatic protocol, including a ceremonial guard of honor, a red-carpet reception, and the rendition of the National Anthem of the Republic of Somaliland.
For the first time, the National Flag and National Anthem of Somaliland were formally honored during an official ceremony of this stature at the Presidential Residence of the State of Israel.
A high-level bilateral summit
President Irro and President Herzog subsequently held a high-level bilateral summit during which they reviewed the state of relations between their respective nations and explored new avenues for cooperation. Discussions focused on strengthening strategic engagement, expanding economic and investment partnerships, advancing cooperation in innovation and technology, enhancing agricultural development, and promoting regional peace and security.
The two Heads of State reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening ties founded upon mutual respect, common interests, democratic principles, and a collective aspiration for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
Following their discussions, the two leaders delivered joint statements to the press, reiterating their determination to elevate bilateral relations. In honor of the visit, President Herzog hosted an official State Luncheon for President Irro and the Somaliland delegation at the Presidential Residence.
