The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, today received at the Presidential Palace the heads of the biggest private telecommunications companies in Somaliland, following a successful agreement with the government of the Republic of Somaliland.
The purpose of the agreement is to share ownership of the fiber optic cable as a national asset. The agreement will be jointly signed by the Ministry of Communications and Technology of Somaliland on behalf of the government and the following three companies:
- SOMCABLE – represented by businessman Mohamed Said Ghedi.
- SOMTEL – represented by businessman Mohamed Said Duale.
- TELESOM – represented by businessman Abdikarim Mohamed Iid.
- Ministry of Communication and Technology of Somaliland – represented by Dr. Abdiweli Sh. Abdilahi Sufi.
The President commended the historic agreement reached between the companies and the government, an agreement built on understanding and cooperation. The President also thanked the companies for taking such a big role and investing in the country.
