Somaliland: Cabinet Unanimously Approves 2025 National Budget

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) and flanked by H.E. Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, convened its 6th session today at the Presidential Palace. The meeting focused exclusively on the review and deliberation of the Draft National Budget for the fiscal year 2025.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the framework of the proposed budget, which is structured into four primary components:

  • Central Government Budget

  • Independent Agencies Budget

  • Local Government Budgets

  • Donor-Funded Projects

 

In his address to the Cabinet, H.E. President Abdirahman underscored the importance of enhancing revenue collection mechanisms and directed all revenue-generating ministries and government agencies to ensure the seamless and direct transfer of revenues to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. 

The President further emphasized the collective responsibility of all governmental institutions to support the Ministry in its efforts to strengthen the nation’s fiscal sustainability and economic growth.

 

After an in-depth discussion and analysis of the proposed budget, the Cabinet unanimously approved the Draft 2025 National Budget. All 43 members present voted in favor of the proposal, with no dissenting voices or abstentions recorded.

 

The approved budget draft will now be submitted to the House of Representatives for legislative review and ratification, in accordance with the constitutional mandate.
