His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, has today issued two Presidential Decrees implementing critical legislation aimed at enhancing public governance and employee welfare.
1. Presidential Decree No. JSL/XM/GW/081-040/012025
Enactment of the Pension and Compensation Agency Law (Law No. 108/2024)
After considering:
- Article 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- Article 76 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- Article 38, Clause 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- The approval decision of the House of Representatives (Decision No. GW/KF-10/30/2024), Reference No. GW/G/10/376/2024, dated 30 December 2024, which sanctioned the Pension and Compensation Agency Law (Law No. 108/2024);
The President has enacted the Pension and Compensation Agency Law to officially come into effect, with the purpose of providing systematic support for the retirement and compensation needs of government employees.
2. Presidential Decree No. JSL/XM/GW/081-039/012025
Enactment of the Office of the Attorney General Law (Law No. 89/2024)
After considering:
- Article 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- Article 76 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- Article 38, Clause 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland;
- The approval decision of the House of Representatives (Decision No. GW/KF-10/29/2024), Reference No. GW/G/10/376/2024, dated 30 December 2024, which sanctioned the Office of the Attorney General Law (Law No. 89/2024);
The President has enacted the Office of the Attorney General Law, marking its official implementation. This law establishes a legal framework to guide the operations and oversight of the Office of the Attorney General, ensuring efficiency and adherence to justice in governmental operations.
