H.E. President Muse Bihi Abdi and a delegation led by him on a business trip to Berbera, the capital of the Sahel region, have officially laid the foundation stone for a new oil storage tank in Berbera, implemented by the Trafigura company.
The modern tank will have a wide capacity and will be able to store a variety of fuels, including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. It will be located in the Berbera Free Trade Zone, a rapidly growing industrial and commercial hub.
In his speech, President Bihi welcomed the project and reiterated the government’s commitment to the security of the company and its economy. He said, “Somaliland has promised Trafigura peace, cooperation, and development. Their people and equipment will be safe in Somaliland.”
The construction of the new oil storage tank is expected to be completed within two years. It is a significant vote of confidence in Somaliland’s economy and its future, and a major boost for the country’s efforts to become a regional energy hub.
