The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, today met at the Presidential Palace with 20 Ambassadors of the Republic of Somaliland to foreign countries who have recently undergone training in Berbera, the capital of the Sahil region.
Prior to the start, Dr Isse Keyd, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, briefed the President and gave him an overview of the primary duties of the ambassadors such as the diplomatic relations established with their receiving states, and how to accelerate and promote Somaliland’s case at an international level.
The President urged the ambassadors to redouble their efforts and to always remember that they represent the people of Somaliland in their respective countries. In his remarks, President Bihi said, “You should know that now is the time for this nation to gain the full recognition it deserves from the international community. You must always work towards that goal keeping in mind that you have the support of the government and people of Somaliland, both at home and abroad.”
Finally, the President commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for its efforts in convening such meetings for Somaliland representatives abroad, and for the experts who provided the training to the ambassadors.
