His Excellency, Muse Bihi Abdi, President of the Republic of Somaliland, yesterday warmly received a delegation of international observers at the Presidential Palace. These observers, representing various countries, have arrived in Somaliland to monitor the Presidential and political party elections scheduled for this week.
President Muse Bihi Abdi extended his gratitude to the observers for their commitment to witnessing Somaliland’s electoral process firsthand. He shared insights into Somaliland’s robust democratic journey, highlighting the nation’s dedication to open and transparent elections—a practice that stands as a model of stability and progress in both Africa and beyond.
The President provided a briefing on Somaliland’s path to democratic maturity, emphasizing the nation’s foundational values of order, compromise, and patriotism among its people. These principles, he noted, have empowered the Republic of Somaliland to achieve significant progress, positioning it as a distinguished example for others.
President Bihi encouraged the observers to explore Somaliland’s advancements in governance and democracy and to share their observations with the international community. He urged them to advocate for Somaliland’s pursuit of full international recognition, as the nation has fulfilled the necessary benchmarks of statehood.

Joining the President in the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Essa Keyd Mohamoud, and Somaliland’s Representative to the United States and Canada, Ambassador Bashir Sheikh Omar Good.
