His Excellency President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) today chaired the 13th session of the Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Palace. The meeting focused on key national issues, including security, economic growth, governance, and infrastructure development.

Key Discussions and Resolutions:

  • National Security & Stability: The Minister of Interior and Security assured the Cabinet that Somaliland’s overall security remains stable.

  • Economic Growth & Revenue Collection: The Minister of Finance and Economic Development reported steady progress in tax collection, particularly in Goods and Services Tax (GST), emphasizing continued efforts to enhance revenue generation.

  • Justice & Correctional Facilities: The Minister of Justice provided a comprehensive update on prison conditions across Somaliland, including the recently inaugurated Mija-Caseeye Prison. The discussion highlighted the need for improvements in housing, healthcare, and education for inmates in the country’s 14 correctional facilities.

  • Livestock Export Strategy: The Minister of Livestock and Rural Development presented an update on Somaliland’s livestock export sector, detailing efforts to strengthen the industry and ensure market expansion.

  • Digital Transformation & Data Protection: The Minister of Communications and Technology outlined the government’s ongoing digital initiatives, financial resources secured, and progress on the National Data Centre, which will centralize and safeguard Somaliland’s critical data infrastructure.

  • Aviation & Transport Development: The Minister of Civil Aviation and Airports Development presented the ministry’s five-year strategic roadmap, which aims to position Somaliland as a regional aviation hub by enhancing airport infrastructure and improving air travel services. Additionally, the minister provided a 100-day progress report and detailed the operational framework for national airports.

  • Government Performance & Accountability: The Minister of the Presidency reviewed the 100-day government performance report, assessing progress across ministries in delivering on key commitments.

  • Urban Development & Local Governance: The Minister of Local Government and Urban Development introduced the five-year master plan, emphasizing the need for better oversight of international projects implemented by NGOs and foreign agencies in Somaliland’s electoral districts.

  • Peacebuilding & Conflict Resolution: President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) provided an update on the ongoing peace process in Erigavo and the regularization of the Civilian Defense Forces. He also officially announced the launch of the Ceel-Afweyn Peace Conference, a key initiative aimed at fostering long-term stability.

Presidential Address:

In his closing remarks, President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) commended the Vice President and Cabinet Ministers for their unwavering dedication to national development.

President Irro praised their continued efforts in advancing peace, economic stability, and governance reforms, particularly in Erigavo, where the peace process is nearing completion.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening national institutions, enhancing public services, and ensuring long-term prosperity for the people of Somaliland.
