Somaliland Ministers Address Security, Health, and Judicial Reforms in 129th Session

The 129th session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by H.E. President Muse Bihi Abdi and accompanied by Vice President Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail, addressed various issues including security, health, national plans, and recurring incidents of rape.

Prior to the start, the Council of Ministers received a general security report from the Minister of Interior, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, who is also the chairman of Kulmiye Party. He briefed the council on the overall security situation in Somaliland and the Horn of Africa and discussed the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections.

The council also reviewed a report on the state of dengue fever from the Deputy Minister of Health Development, Liban Yusuf Gahanuug, who outlined the ministry’s efforts to combat various diseases, including the recurrence of dengue fever for the third consecutive year.

Additionally, the Council examined the national plan presented by the Minister of Information, Awareness and Culture, Ali Hassan Mohamed, in the context of the upcoming elections.

In conclusion, after extensive discussion and analysis, the Council of Ministers decided that issues related to rape should be exclusively handled by the judicial system. They emphasized that traditional cultural practices should not interfere with the judicial process in these matters.
