The 130th session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland was held today, presided over by President Muse Bihi Abdi and Vice President Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Saylici). Key topics discussed included security, elections, national defense, health, the 2025 budget, and fisheries development.
Minister of Interior Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed provided an update on security in Somaliland and the Horn of Africa. Reports were also given by Dr. Saad Ali Shire, Minister of Financial Development, on the economy and the 2025 budget; Hon. Hassan Mohamed Ali (Gafaadhi), Minister of Health Development, on health challenges including dengue fever; and Hon. Mohamud Warsame Jama, Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Development, on fisheries development and market expansion.
The council confirmed that the election will proceed as scheduled and stressed the importance of national defense. Citizens were urged to prepare for the election and to defend the nation.
For the first time, the Cabinet of Ministers distributed the draft of the general penal code of Somaliland, presented by the Minister of National Assembly Relations, Hon. Abdinasir Muhammad Hassan Buuni, and Attorney General Abdirahman Jama Hayaan.
