The 134th Cabinet Meeting of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by His Excellency the President, Muse Bihi Abdi, convened to deliberate on significant national matters. Discussions centered on the general state of the nation, the success of the recent elections organized by the current administration, and strategic preparations for the ongoing transition period.

Following the meeting, His Excellency Ali Hassan Mohamed (Ali Marehan), Minister of Information, Culture, and Awareness, and official spokesperson for the government, briefed the media. He provided an in-depth summary of the meeting’s outcomes and the decisions reached.

The Minister reaffirmed that the government had taken full responsibility for organizing the recent overlapping elections, including the Presidential, Local Council, and House of Representatives elections. These elections underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s institutions, fostering political stability, and solidifying Somaliland’s international standing.

The Cabinet expressed profound gratitude to the citizens of Somaliland for their continued trust and confidence in the KULMIYE party, which has successfully led the nation for the past 14 years. Special recognition was extended to the party’s supporters, whose unwavering commitment has been instrumental in advancing Somaliland’s democratic aspirations.

The Cabinet also lauded the transparency and credibility of the elections, which further enhanced Somaliland’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in the region.

His Excellency Minister Ali Marehan emphasized that the KULMIYE party is preparing to transition into an opposition role, with a commitment to constructive engagement and responsible political discourse that prioritizes national progress and unity.

During the meeting, His Excellency President Muse Bihi Abdi addressed the Cabinet, expressing his gratitude for their dedication and tireless efforts. He highlighted the elections—90% funded domestically—as a monumental achievement and a testament to Somaliland’s resilience and independence.

In his remarks, the President extended a message to all Somalilanders, both the opposition and the party’s supporters, underscoring the importance of unity and collaboration during this transitional phase.

To the opposition, he said:
“You have earned the trust of the people in these elections, and we have extended our congratulations. It is now time to work together toward our common goal of building a stronger and united Somaliland.”

To the supporters of KULMIYE, he added:
“Our commitment to Somaliland’s progress remains steadfast. As we prepare to transfer power, let us give the incoming administration the time and support they need to succeed. It is crucial that our actions and words reflect the highest regard for our nation’s unity and well-being.”
