His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today received at the Presidential Palace Tim Trenkle, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia, since July 2022. Chargé d’Affaires Tim Trenkle arrived in Hargeisa this morning for a series of political and civil society discussions.
Prior to the start, President Bihi briefed the deputy chief about the current situation in the country, more specifically in regard to the ongoing conflict in Las Anod. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations of the two countries, regional security and stability in the Horn of Africa.
On another note, the deputy chief spoke to the President about the need to resume the stalled talks between the governments of Somaliland and Somalia, which are expected to start soon.
President Bihi was accompanied in this meeting by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Isse Keyd Mohamud along with the Minister of Culture, Information and Awareness, Hon. Saleeban Yusuf Ali Koore.
