The 7th meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland, chaired by President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Cirro and attended by Vice President H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, convened today at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa.

The meeting addressed a range of critical national issues, underscoring the government’s dedication to transparency, development, and progress.

Key Highlights from the Meeting:

  1. National Security and Stability:
    The Minister of Interior and National Security confirmed that Somaliland remains peaceful and stable, ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
  2. Economic Growth and Revenue Management:
    The Minister of Finance and Economic Development presented a detailed report on the nation’s financial progress, focusing on tax collection and revenue enhancement.

    • The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airport Development was commended for centralizing its revenue streams, ensuring transparency by transferring all collected funds to the Ministry of Finance since January 1, 2025.
    • A new system has been implemented, enabling real-time monitoring of airport revenues to promote accountability and efficiency.
  3. Cabinet Decisions and Updates:
    • Temporary Government Employees: The President assigned a six-member ministerial committee to address the regularization of temporary staff in government institutions.
    • National Defense: The Minister of Defense outlined strategies to enhance Somaliland’s security and defense infrastructure.
    • Legislative Progress: The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Constitutional Relations provided updates on legislation passed by the previous administration and pending bills in the House of Representatives.
    • Industrial Development: The Minister of Investment Promotion and Industry shared findings from inspections of domestic industries, highlighting challenges and potential opportunities.
    • Healthcare Services: The Minister of Health Development reported on working visits to assess healthcare gaps and hospital conditions across various regions.
    • Education Sector: The Minister of Education, Early Childhood Development, and Science outlined key education policies and shared observations from visits to the Sahil and Togdheer regions to address urgent educational needs.

The Cabinet reiterated its commitment to advancing national priorities and driving sustainable development across all sectors.
