Somaliland: President Cirro Visits Police Headquarters to Support Reform and Security

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), undertook an official visit to the headquarters of the Somaliland Police Force. Upon arrival, His Excellency was received by the Police Commissioner, Major General Mohamed Aden Saqadhi (Dabagale), and accorded a ceremonial guard of honor by a contingent of the police force.  

During the visit, President Cirro inspected the various departments within the headquarters and delivered a detailed address, acknowledging the dedication and sacrifices of the Somaliland Police Force. The President outlined the purpose of his visit as a fact-finding mission to better understand the challenges and operational conditions faced by the police. He further emphasized the importance of listening to the force’s recommendations to guide the ongoing reform and modernization efforts.  

The President highlighted the critical role of the police as a cornerstone institution in maintaining national security and upholding the rule of law, which forms the foundation of effective governance. He underscored the importance of fostering trust and collaboration between the police and the public to ensure a secure and harmonious society.  

President Cirro reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and professional development of the police force. He announced plans to enhance their living standards, modernize their equipment, and provide advanced training to strengthen their law enforcement and investigative capabilities.  

The President also highlighted key initiatives to support the police and their families, including a significant salary increase of 250% during the administration’s first term, aligning with similar improvements for other national security forces. Additionally, he pledged free healthcare and education for police officers and their dependents, to be fully funded by the government. His Excellency stressed the government’s commitment to creating a safe and dignified working environment where officers can perform their duties without hindrance.  

President Cirro underscored the importance of accountability and ethical conduct within the police force, highlighting the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any misconduct that could negatively impact citizens. He emphasized the necessity of implementing comprehensive reforms to enhance the force’s operational effectiveness and ensure it continues to uphold the safety and security of the nation.  

In his concluding remarks, President Cirro called upon the police force to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in serving the public. He reiterated the government’s unwavering support for the Somaliland Police Force and its vital role in safeguarding the nation’s stability and progress.
