The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Muse Bihi Abdi, today inaugurated a major government-constructed water reservoir in Dhimbiriyaale, part of the Salaxley district.
On arrival, the President received a warm welcome from the local community, who expressed their strong support for the government’s ongoing development initiatives in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, Kulmiye Party leaders, traditional elders, political figures, and other distinguished guests, who commended the government’s dedicated efforts to promote development across the region.
Local leaders from Dhimbiriyaale, including elders, parliamentarians, and respected community members, highlighted the critical role this new reservoir will play in addressing the community’s long-standing water needs.
Parliament members Oday Haji Abdi-Waraabe and Abdinasir Yusuf Osman Qodax; Civil Aviation Agency Director Mr. Omar Abdillahi Aden; Deputy Chairman of the National Tender Board Mr. Abdiasis Cagoweyne; and Maroodi-jeex Regional Governor Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Aalin (Timbaro) expressed their gratitude for the government’s commitment to providing sufficient water access for the people of Dhimbiriyaale, significantly alleviating the long-standing water shortage. They also praised the government’s focused efforts in supporting the community’s health and education sectors.
The Minister of Planning and National Development, Hon. Ahmed Mohamed Diriye (Toorno), and the Minister of Water Development, Hon. Saleeban Yusuf Ali-koore, delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of the reservoir for Dhimbiriyaale and the government’s commitment to addressing the critical water needs in the region.
In his address, President Bihi thanked the Dhimbiriyaale community for their warm welcome, stating that the government has invested significant resources in providing water access to alleviate the severe water scarcity affecting the region.
The President reiterated that his administration prioritizes the construction of large reservoirs in water-scarce areas and has implemented similar projects across other regions to address the country’s water needs.
