The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), led a high-level government delegation on an official visit to the Region today. The visit focused on infrastructure development, strengthening national security, and supporting regional progress.
Upon arrival, President Irro and his delegation were warmly welcomed in Dacar-budhuq, Abdaal, Lafaruug, Xamaas, and Berbera, where large enthusiastic crowds gathered to wholeheartedly the President and his high-level delegation.
During the visit, the President officially inaugurated the reconstructed Berbera-Sheikh Road, a crucial route that will improve transportation, boost economic activity, and enhance regional connectivity.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in the Sheikh mountains, was attended by senior officials, including the Minister of Roads and the Director of the National Roads Authority, who praised the workers for completing the project efficiently. The upgraded road now includes twenty newly reconstructed bridges, improving safety and accessibility.
In his remarks, President Irro emphasized the importance of infrastructure in national development, stating that this project will make travel easier, support trade, and contribute to Somaliland’s long-term progress.
As part of the visit, the President also launched the first training program for the Civil Defense Forces at the Abdillahi Feedhe Military Training School in Sheikh. The Minister of Defense and the Commander of the National Army attended the event, commending the new recruits for their dedication to national service.
Speaking to the recruits, President Abdirahman Irro acknowledged their vital role in Somaliland’s security and reaffirmed his commitment to modernizing and strengthening the armed forces. He also laid the foundation stone for new facilities at the training school to enhance training and operational capacity.
Throughout his visit, President Abdirahman Irro met with local leaders and community members, traditional elders, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, security, and economic growth.
This visit highlights the government’s continued efforts to advance key projects that improve the lives of Somalilanders at large.
