Somaliland: President Opens National Economic Forum

His Excellency, President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, yesterday officially inaugurated the national economic forum. This conference focused on various issues concerning the country’s economy, including investment opportunities in Somaliland and the obstacles surrounding it and discussions about the country’s production. It was attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank as well as a number of high-ranking government officials. 

The Ministers of Planning and National Development, Dr. Ahmed Adan Buuhane, Commerce and Industry, Hon. Mohamud Hassan Sa’ad and Finance Development, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, all of whom spoke at length, explained in depth the importance of this meeting for the nation and how it is expected to come up with solutions to the current economic problems.

President Bihi, who officially opened the forum, first commended the organizers of the conference and encouraged them to increase their efforts and present lasting solutions to overcome the economic challenges. The President also noted at the forum that the biggest challenge that needs to be addressed now is the water shortage caused by climate change.
