The Minister of Interior and National Security provided a comprehensive security update, confirming that the country remains stable and peaceful overall. However, concerns were raised regarding the daily crimes and traffic accidents that continue to result in the highest rates of fatalities and injuries.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development presented a report on the nation’s financial status, highlighting ongoing efforts to streamline tax collection and increase national revenue. He also informed the Cabinet about the progress of the President’s initiative to unify the country’s revenue collection system across all government agencies.
The Minister of Health delivered an in-depth report on the healthcare situation in the eastern regions of Sanaag, Saraar, and Togdheer. During his visit from January 29 to February 5, 2025, he assessed the healthcare needs in these areas, focusing on medicine, transportation, and staffing. The report emphasized the additional strain placed on healthcare facilities by ongoing conflicts and underscored the urgent need for more specialized medical staff, particularly for trauma and emergency care.
The Minister of Parliamentary Relations and Constitutional Affairs presented two crucial draft laws: the National Emblem Act and the National Flag Act. These pieces of legislation are designed to protect and uphold the dignity and significance of Somaliland’s national symbols, ensuring they align with international standards.
