Somaliland: President Bihi Received at Capitol Hill by Senior US Officials

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi and his delegation on their fourth day in the United States of America were invited to Capitol Hill where they met with various US officials. Among them was US Senator Chris Van Hollen, Chair of the Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives for Africa and another member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Adam Smith, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee.

During their visit at Capitol Hill, Senator Chris Van Hollen along with other officials hosted a luncheon for the President of the Republic of Somaliland and his delegation. The aim of the luncheon was to discuss ways of strengthening relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the United States, with a particular focus on cooperation in the development and protection of wildlife and the environment.

Additionally, the President met with MP Adam Smith at Capitol Hill, who received the President’s delegation in his office, during which they discussed relations between the two countries, as well as strengthening security in the Horn of Africa. The President thanked the United States Parliament for its commitment to the nation of Somaliland and for its continued support to make Somaliland a part of the world.

Finally, the two MPs agreed that the President’s visit to the United States came at the right time, as it will greatly contribute to the cause of the independence of the Republic of Somaliland.
