The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, and a large delegation with him on a working visit to the United States of America, yesterday landed back in the capital Hargeisa, where they received a national welcome.
The President and his delegation landed at Egal International Airport today, where they were greeted by the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail (Saylici), members of the House of Representatives, ministers, various army commanders and many other dignitaries.
Afterwards, the President received a large crowd at the Egal International Airport in front of thousands of people in various parts of the capital Hargeisa wearing the flag of the Republic of Somaliland. All of them came out to congratulate the President and his delegation on their successful working visit to the United States and the many fruitful meetings with various US government officials and diplomats.
First was the Mayor of Hargeisa, Mr. Abdikarin Ahmed Mooge, who in a short speech, warmly welcomed the President and his delegation, praising the historic achievements of the President during his visit to the United States.
The President then delivered a historic speech in front of the thousands of people gathered at the airport. In his remarks, the President said, “Our trip to the US was a historic victory for the Somaliland community and will go down in history. The patriotic sentiments, efforts and rights of the people of Somaliland to be part of the international community have been conveyed to the United States Government, and that they have successfully debated and raised the issue of the independence of the Republic of Somaliland.”
Finally, the President and his delegation were escorted to the Presidential Palace, where they were greeted by thousands of people waving wet leaves and the Somaliland flag on the main streets of the capital, celebrating the President’s achievements.
